Paniki Gallery presents new works by Canadian painter, Ashleigh Bartlett. Completed during her residency, this new body of work is in response to the surroundings specific to Batan.
Working outside at Elmo's House in the sun and in the garden prompted an exploration of double-sided paintings on silk. The works are brightly painted to reflect the colours of Batan's town centre and lush foliage. Cut into abstract forms, the transparent and lightweight material changes with the movement of the air.
Ashleigh Bartlett graduated with an MFA from The University of Guelph with a BFA in Painting from The Alberta College of Art and Design. She has exhibited Internationally, most recently at the Kamloops Art Gallery (Kamloops, BC) and The Lily (Calgary, BC), as Circles and Wigs (with Jessica Groome). Her works were included in the group exhibition at Istituto Veneto di Scienze (Venice, Italy) and Nave Gallery Annex (Somerville, MA, USA). She will be returning as a Sessional faculty member at the Alberta College of Art and Design this fall.
